Nice little deli. They have an excellent sandwich selection and you can customize as well. Guten free bread options, interesting cheese choices, great dressings, fresh vegetables. I also love the assortment of Nantucket Nectar drinks. Very friendly staff who remember your favorite orders after only a few visits. Definitely stop in.

My fiance and I stopped here for lunch after camping in Island Pond, on our way back home to Bellows Falls. The sandwiches we got were top-notch! I got Black Forest Ham with Smoked Gouda on a toasted labaccia roll. I feel like you don't see many delis that offer Smoked Gouda, and the quantity was generous, too. Lots of options for breads, meats, cheeses, and veggies. Nice seating on huge picnic tables in downtown St. J, with several other folks hanging out on Sunday at 11am of all times. It was pretty great, and if I lived around there, I'd get lunch from this place often!

Little general store with some very inventive sandwiches. I really liked the feel to this place. I was on my way from Boston to Alma, QC and this was a great little oasis. Spend the extra $1 and stop in here to get your sandwich instead of the chain spots.....you'll never get this type of quality in any chain. You'll be glad you did....trust me on this. Get the Athenaeum....I'm far from a vegetarian.....but this sandwich could convert the staunchest carnivore.

Don't be turned off by the unassuming venue, the sandwiches at this deli are creative and thoroughly delicious! Service was quick, prices were reasonable. Outdoor seating was clean and pleasant (but I'm not sure what they do about seating in the winter).

This place is fantastic. Not only do they have delicious sandwiches, they are a one-stop-shop for anything you need to pick up on the way home from work. The staff is incredibly enthusiastic, entertaining and welcoming. In regards to the Signature Sandwiches, they have a fine selection (my personal favorites being the Firehouse and Caledonian - which has a great homemade cranberry mayo). They each come on a specialty LaBaccia roll, which is super tasty and chewy, especially when toasted/grilled. You can customize or build your own sandwich to your taste as well. Also, they have tasty breakfast sandwiches - customized to your liking - the standard egg, bacon and cheddar is my go-to when ordering breakfast here. They have great patio seating outside for people-watching. Furthermore, they have a super groovy selection of art for sale from a local artist, and fun Vermont items like maple syrup, tie-dye shirts and homemade baked goods! If you are exploring St. Johnsbury, or are a seasoned local, I would highly recommend this great little deli!

We were visiting St. Johnsbury to see the Fairbanks Museum, and stopped here for lunch. We were pleased to find a vegetarian option that was pretty tasty. As a side note, the Fairbanks Museum is excellent. The amount of taxedermy - mostly on the first floor - is somewhat overwhelming (notably in contrast to the above vegetarianism), but it also featured some of David Macaulay's original drawings, various archeological artifacts, and crazy bug mosaics.

Delicious chicken Pagani soup, great hot sandwiches-this place is unusually tasty for a store deli. The only seating is a couple of benches in the front windows. Tie-dye and groovy paintings for sale. So Vermont!

We found this place en route from NY to the White Mountains of NH. Their Pagani sandwich was so good that we stopped again two weeks later on our way back from NH to NY. The Pagani is a fantastic Italian sub and the bread is incredible.
